The Dump

Hey people. I never really finished this Blog so I'm attempting to do it now...

This post is showing the day we took a trip to visit this community that lives just outside the city dump and how they get a little income to barely survive. The scavenge the dump to get recyclable materials, and even personal belongings for themselves.
So when the day started we made about 100 sack lunches with the intent of driving up to the dump and handing them out to all the workers. When we got there I was astonished at how many workers there were: men, women, and children. It was quite the site when we pulled up and opened the back doors of the van and an instant crowed formed around us. After our food supply diminished we went down the hill to the community where they all lived and visited a family that some of my friends already had a relationship with. Besides the obvious they had a pretty tragic situation. It was a grandma who was taking care of her grandchildren and probably a few random children as well. The grandma got in that situation because her daughter died in a fire and then left her with all of the grandchildren.
When I visit places like this it is so tragic and it hurts to see, but I enjoy at the same time to experience life with these people and to bring them some sort of joy and they bring me joy at the same time.
